The Jackson, Tennessee law firm of Pentecost, Glenn, Mauldin & York, PLLC proudly announces that member Jon A. York has been appointed United States Magistrate Judge for the Western District of Tennessee. He will replace Magistrate Judge Edward G. Bryant, who retired on February 28, 2019.
York, 44, has been in private practice at the law firm of Pentecost, Glenn, Mauldin & York, PLLC since 2004. His practice there has focused on civil rights litigation, government entity defense, and criminal defense. Prior to his work at Pentecost, Glenn, Mauldin & York, York was a judicial clerk to the Honorable James D. Todd of the United States District Court for the Western District of Tennessee from 2003-2004.
York received his juris doctorate from the University of Memphis School of Law in 2003. He earned a bachelor’s of art degree from Lambuth University in 1997.
In his new role, York will serve as a judicial officer of the United States District Courts and exercise the jurisdiction delegated by law and assigned by District Judges. His duties will include conducting preliminary proceedings in civil and criminal cases, pretrial matters, and evidentiary proceedings, as well as conducting trial and disposition of misdemeanor cases.
